Now, i n order for Apple workers to correctly install this 'bridge' part, they had to wipe my HD. At any rate, I went to a third party to backup in the cloud. I did post here, but never got a suitable response either from Seagate (Mac Compatible back up HD) or Apple. OK, I may have committed the 'unpardonable sin' in the eyes of the Apple upper echelon, but because of a defective MAC (2012 Macbook Pro) hardware part, a 'bridge,' as the Apple Store repair person told me, I could no longer back up using Time Machine, although I did not know why at the time it would not work.
